During NFL draft, ESPN airs 2014 video of Joe Mixon punching woman

In the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected running back Joe Mixon with the No. 48 overall pick. Mixon, who played three seasons at Oklahoma, was charged with a misdemeanor in 2014 for punching a woman in the face, which broke four bones in her face.

Frank Clark Authentic Jersey Last December, the video of the incident was released to the public. You can watch the video here, via NewsOK. Details of the graphic images were previously reported on by local Oklahoma media.

Shortly after Mixon was drafted, ESPN chose to air the full video of the 2014 incident, with a warning beforehand, and then devoted several minutes of serious discussion to the issue. NFL Network elected not to air the video.

The incident between Mixon and the woman happened in July 2014, before his freshman season with the Sooners began. He entered an Alford plea, maintaining his innocence but recognizing the evidence against him, and received a deferred sentence. He was also suspended for his entire freshman season, but he was allowed to remain in school.

He played the remainder of his three seasons of eligibility from 2014-16. Mixon was not invited to the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, as part of the NFLs 2016 policy to not invite players convicted of domestic violence or sexual assault. Last week, Mixon reached a settlement for the civil suit filed by the woman. The two said they met privately.

Lynch got a massive contract from the Seahawks a few years back

Archie Manning Jersey
All the rumors and discussions also make it seem to be a given that Oakland and Lynch will be able to agree on a new contract, which is not necessarily the case.

Lynch got a massive contract from the Seahawks a few years back, but those kinds of deals no longer exist at the position. The largest current long-term contract for an NFL running back is LeSean McCoys $8 million-per-year deal with the Bills. Most contracts for RBs in Lynchs age group are in the $4 million-per range.

While Lynch had a great career in Seattle, his final year as a Seahawk was anything but great. He averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and was injured for most of the season. Those are not the kinds of numbers a team normally would see as big-contract-worthy.

This also is the same reason Peterson remains unemployed. Peterson at the very least should have to take a heavily incentive-laden contract, which he might decide is not worth the trouble.

Evan Gattis Jersey Chances are you’ve heard this story by now. Brady enjoyed a solid career at Michigan, where he finished 20-5 as a starter and led the Wolverines to a victory in the 2000 Orange Bowl. Few, however, could have predicted that the sixth-round pick would go on to be a five-time Super Bowl champion and the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

This is as close as Laremy Tunsil will likely ever come to naming the person who hacked him: three minutes and 27 seconds of the football player navigating a personal hell in real time. No one seems to be in control of the moment, especially Tunsil. Hes visibly nervous and repeats himself. He also contradicts his own account of events while answering questions on the matter for the first and last time.

John Wall showed the Hawks why he’s a master of his craft

John Wall’s third quarter was a tour de force that made something clear: we are watching a master of his craft. In a 114-107 win, Wall steadily and methodically picked apart Atlanta’s defense, including one stretch where he scored or assisted on 19 of the Washington Wizards’ 20 points. It was a full, loaded display that blended excellence with flair and creativity, and it left anyone watching shaking their head.

Washington led most of the game, even though Atlanta never let them pull away. But the Hawks couldn’t find anyone that could bother Wall. He finished with 32 points and 14 assists on 12-of-24 shooting, breaking down Atlanta’s defense repeatedly with a feathery touch. Take this pass, for example.

Blandino’s decision is not an unusual move. Given the complexities of the NFL rulebook, it’s nice when the broadcast networks have people who can actually understand it and translate it for the fans at home who just can’t understand why Dez Bryant didn’t catch the ball even though it sure looked a lot like he did.

That doesn’t change the fact that his departure, which becomes official at the end of May, leaves a big void at a critical juncture in how the league handles officiating and replay. Blandino would have been the one making the calls with the new centralized replay system.

The league will need to find a replacement for a job that will almost certainly make that person the most hated suit in the sport (except for maybe Roger Goodell himself). Several options have already been kicked around, including assistants under Blandino or veteran referees.

Mike Carey has more than two decades of experience as an NFL referee, but he’ll be forever immortalized as CBS’ rules expert who NEVER made the right call on the broadcast.

The Maple Leafs wont be overlooking Wilson anytime soon.

On Lynch’s similar run this year against the Cardinals, he once again went to his dick:

But this time, the NFL was watching, and gave Lynch an $11,000 fine for the gesture.

Authentic Youth Matt Dumba Jersey Lynch had another big run against the Packers, and knew that if the referees saw him grabbing his dick, they’d give him a 15-yard penalty. So he tried to be subtle, and instead of jumping backwards, merely turned and put his hands on his dick:

Twitter never forgets, and apparently neither does Tom Wilson. The Capitals and Maple Leafs went to overtime on Thursday, and Wilson scored the game-winner despite an incredible game from Frederik Andersen.
Isaiah Pead Limited Jersey
After the initial shock wore off that it was Wilson who got the game-winner, a fourth-liner who had yet to score a goal in the postseason until Thursday, this tweet went viral. After the 38-17 home dud against Wyoming, CSUs offense found fourth year (34 points per game and 6.1 yards per play over the next four games), then found fifth (52 points per game and 9.2 yards per play over the last four).

Most of the reasons return. Third-year starting quarterback Nick Stevens raised his passer rating from 138.7 to 171.3 last year, but it didnt come without drama. He was dreadful against Colorado in the season opener, going 6-for-20 for just 31 yards with two sacks and two picks. Backup Faton Bauta went 6-for-17 the next week against UTSA, so freshman Collin Hill took the job.

Babcock on Wilson: Nothing against Wils because he works hard and all that, but hes not as big of concern as lot of people on their team.

The quote comes from Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock, who, when asked about Wilson, dismissed the forward as not as big of a concern as other members of the Capitals.

Jason Dufner dropped his putter for his caddie to pick up, and Twitter was not amused

Limited Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Jersey Jason Dufner was in the mix for his first PGA Tour win since January 2016 at the CareerBuilder Challenge until his putter went cold early into Sunday’s final round of the RBC Heritage. But when he made bogey on No. 5 (the same par-5 hole on which he scored an eagle a day earlier), the stone-faced Dufner did his version of a mic drop — and it did not go over well on Twitter.

It’s unclear what specifically set Dufner off, but leaving a club for his caddie to pick up and walking away is a bush league move. The 2013 PGA champion went on to card a 5-over 76 for the day and finish tied for 11th at 8-under — five shots off Wesley Bryan’s winning pace.

After ranking 15th in Special Teams S&P+ in 2015, Boise State returned most of its best pieces but still slumped to 76th in 2016, mostly because Tyler Rausa wasn’t as effective in the place-kicking department. He missed three field goals under 40 yards and missed his only over-40 attempt. That might not seem that bad, but it’s not good.
Limited Brice Butler Jersey
Rausa and big-time punter Sean Wale are gone, as is part-time kick return Jonathan Moxey. I guess it seems less intimidating rebuilding a mid-70s unit than a top-20 unit, but either way, there’s a rebuild here.

I’m going with the Bucs to win two straight.

Didi Gregorius Limited Jersey On paper, Atlanta was clearly the more talented team to start the season. Injuries have changed that and based on recent performance, the Bucs have been better. Tampa Bay nearly pulled off the upset in Seattle against the Seahawks and arguably outplayed Seattle even in the loss. Atlanta hosted Seattle last week and was thoroughly dominated in all three phases.

Carl Soderberg Limited Jersey With recent performance in mind and the fact Tampa Bay is playing at home, I’m going with the Bucs to win two straight.

The only reasonable thing to do in that situation is get loaded, which is exactly what everyone did. Soldier Field actually had to stop selling beer because everyone was getting so wasted. Some bozo even ran on the field, because, of course, that’s what happened.

The delay ended up being seven minutes short of two hours before they started playing football again. Because Chicago loves the Bears more than it loves anything, most of the people at the game stayed all the way through. As you might imagine with a crowd of wet and uncomfortable drunks, things got silly in the stands once the game began.

In the 20+ years I’ve been watching the NFL, there’s only been one game that I thought maybe – just maybe – the officials played a role in the outcome. Sure, I rant about their favoritism for Peyton Manning, but that’s really just my frustration with him being such a damn good player. Super Bowl XL – Steelers and Seahawks – was the only NFL game I’ve ever truly felt it was possible the guys in stripes played a significant role. Four years after the game, the white hat acknowledged mistakes the officials made in the game.

I certainly feel a little better than I did four weeks ago

“He was not only a great player for us, but he was a great leader. I just think back to him during the 2007 season and the leadership he showed getting us to the Super Bowl and then winning that game and there’s no way we have a Super Bowl season if Michael Strahan’s not on the team.

“He meant a lot to this organization, and still does.”

This year’s Giants, of course, got off to an unthinkably poor 0-6 start. They have rebounded to win four straight, making Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium vs. the Dallas Cowboys a critical one. How does Mara feel about this year’s version of the Giants?

“I certainly feel a little better than I did four weeks ago,” Mara said. “Obviously we were all disappointed and surprised by the poor start that we had, but I am proud of the fact that our team stuck together and we’re now at the point where we can play meaningful games late in the year. Hopefully we can keep this thing going and make a run.”

There’s a problem in the Navy. Someone has been planting homing beacons on battle cruisers — and I only just realized I’ve never seen an episode of NCIS in my life. It’s something about Navy lawyers, and for CBS to be on-brand there has to be a character who hates millennials. Okay got it.

Tony Romo is: Special executive prosecutor Lance “Turmoil” Riggerson and things will never be the same again. He’s a no-nonsense Texan who doesn’t take guff, especially when that raucous Abby steals his fruit snacks — WHICH WERE A GIFT FROM HIS DAUGHTER! These homing beacons won’t investigate themselves, and who better to bust an international conspiracy than Tony Romo?

There will be a scene where he knocks the homing beacon off the battleship with a football, turns to the camera and says “Fourth quarter comeback complete.” — James Dator

the final minutes of this college basketball season were marked by things Gonzaga didn’t do.

We’ll get wrapped up in the dizziness of the 162 game season. The stories of 2017 will come quickly, and they’ll consume us.

Before we go down that particular water slide, though, I would like to share the most amazing player I watched on Opening Day. Specifically, the most amazing single moment from the most amazing player. It made me laugh out loud and rewind the DVR five times.

The homer came from Mike Trout in a forgettable Angels loss, and that’s what makes it too easy to overlook, especially on Opening Day.

It looked harmless enough.

He’ll hit about 30 or 40 more of those this year. Some of them will be hit harder. Some of them will be hit farther. Some of them will come in bigger spots. Heck, the Angels might even win a couple of those games.

But allow me to explain what made me giggle and roll around on the floor as if the dentist forgot to shut off the tank. When you watch the long home run from Bryce Harper, it makes sense.

Limited Youth Ryan Hewitt Jersey If anything, the final minutes of this college basketball season were marked by things Gonzaga didn’t do.

Down one point with 50 seconds remaining, the Bulldogs missed a rebound that allowed the Tar Heels to run an additional 30 seconds off the clock and extend their lead to three on an Isaiah Hicks jumper. The Bulldogs’ ensuing two offensive possessions then ended with a blocked shot and intercepted pass — a nightmare finish to a dream season.
Patrick Kerney Elite Jersey
“It hurts to end it this way,” junior Silas Melson said while sitting outside of his locker. “To know that we were in the game and could have won, it hurts even more.”

Though the wounds are fresh now, the sting of defeat will soon fade for the darlings of this dance. This Gonzaga team went where no other Gonzaga team had been before, reaching the Final Four for the first time in school history. There were 37 victories along the way, WCC regular season and tournament championships, and a one seed in the NCAA tournament.

The Buffalo defense has not been impressive in terms of yardage and points

Rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel returned from a month-long injury absence last week against the Steelers and, well, looked like a rookie. He completed just 56 percent of his passes for 155 yards, a touchdown and an interception. His task of moving the ball against a tough Jets defense will be made more arduous by a banged up receiving corps — favorite target and fellow rookie Robert Woods has been ruled out and Stevie Johnson is questionable with a groin injury. The Bills will lean on a running game that averages over 140 yards per game, but will need a better performance from running back C.J. Spiller, who rushed for just 23 yards on eight carries against the Steelers.

The Buffalo defense has not been impressive in terms of yardage and points — categories they rank in the bottom half of the league in — but do lead the league in interceptions. Much of the credit for those picks goes to the team’s ferocious pass rush, which has racked up 33 sacks (second in the NFL). Defensive end Mario Williams leads the charge with 11, and Jerry Hughes, Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams have all gotten to the quarterback at least five times.
Jimmy Howard Kids Jersey
Often overlooked in the conversation of best defensive tackles is Gerald McCoy. He was sensational in the Buccaneers’ win over Atlanta, and is easily living up to his billing when he was selected with a top-five draft pick.

Kyle Palmieri Kids Jersey This season McCoy has totaled 30 tackles and a career-high 6.0 sacks. He is tied for fourth among defensive tackles, and hasn’t had any time in the spotlight due to the other issues surround the Buccaneers organization. It’s unclear whether the team’s coaching staff will be present in 2017, but McCoy is a defensive centerpiece any staff can build around.
